    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can give me the low down on this set as I'm thinking of purchasing it (last one in the shop and suitably discounted).

    Cheers

Compared to other LCDs (not attempting to compare with other technologies):

1: Has a low resolution panel (848x480) which is optimised for NTSC (480 lines). Has to downscale (ie degrade) a PAL signal (576 lines) in order to display it.

    2: Nice aesthetic design (IMO)

3: Good viewing angle left, right, above. Poor viewing angle below.

4: Has a clever scheme whereby the intensity of the backlight is reduced when the picture content is mainly dark. This improves perceived contrast. AFAIK, this is a unique feature.

5: Is typically more expensive (without good reason IMO) than alternatives.
