Why is this 17" LCD so expensive compared to other 17" LCDs?

Cheapest I can find it is £723.99 from Unbeatable whereas other 17" LCDs are around the £500 mark.

Strangley this LCD has now disappeared from Panasonic's UK website! I thought it was a new model.

You can get a 23" Sony for just £900! £723 does seem alot for a 17" Panasonic. Personally I'd get a small crt set and wait for prices to come down. If I'd waited 2 months I could have got a 32" LCD from the same manufacturer, with HDMI, for the same money as my 26" without HDMI. Also, you can now pick up my set for £375 less than I paid. In just 2 months.

do you think the reductions are positioning for pre-Xmas sales or more permanent? With falls like those seen recently I'm thinking of waiting to the January sales.
