My parents have a Panasonic TX-L37G20B LCD HD TV and Panasonic Blu-ray (model DMP-BD35).

The two are connected via a HDMI cable (HDMI 2) on the TV.

When they play a Blu-ray disc which only has Dolby TrueHD the volume from the TV is very low. The TV has to be set to full volume to hear the output.

I have set the "Volume Correction" to maximum for HDMI2. The manual is a bit vague as to what other settings to try.

They also have a Sky+HD box on HDMI1, this too seem to have low volume issues (compared to analogue TV and the built in DVB), though it's not as bad as the Blu-ray player.

Any thoughts?

Hi

Volume levels lower on HD audio is to be expected even wanted, this is because it has a much wider dynamic range, however speakers/amplifiers in a TV aren't really designed for this fuller dynamic range so you can run out of volume, but the loud bits will be very loud!

A Blu-ray disc shouldn't only have Dolby True HD, it must also have a Dolby Digital or DTS sound track which should hopefully appear louder in volume. Normally this can be set from the discs setup or audio menus, or using the Audio button on the remote for the Blu-ray player to quickly jump around the various audio tracks. Also look for a setting on the Blu-ray player called DRC or nightmode and enable this, this makes the quieter bits louder and the louder bits lower, but this might only work on Dolby Digital rather than DTS or Dolby True HD.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Phil
