At British APCO (Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials) conference currently open at Manchester Central, Panasonic Toughbook is exhibiting its latest range of rugged mobile computers such as Toughbook CF-19 and Toughpad.

With the rugged portability and wireless connectivity of its most recent updates, Toughbook now provides police forces with the long admired durability and functionality of mobile PCs. Today, officers can use Toughbook's 3G mobile broadband connections to access a set of databases and resources in real time with very little computer training, including internal websites, crime records, intelligence logs, and command and control logs.

Toughbook CF-19 is the market leading, convertible 'ruggedised' tablet PC, offering the combination between larger fully-rugged PC's and a convertible PC and has increased computing power, tougher standards and improved connectivity in body, weighing just over 2kg with a 10.1" high visibility screen and battery life of up to 9 hours. As a result, police offers have increased their visibility on the street and the time saved equates to an extra 200 officers per year.

A vitally important advantage of the Toughbook range, including CF-19 and
Toughpad, is its vehicle docking solution. This allows the laptop to be mounted vertically against the dashboard, making it easy to read the screen and operate the keyboard. Panasonic has recently announced its entry into the vehicle computer docking market with the launch of a wide range of vehicle docks and services for its Toughbook and Toughpad rugged mobile computers. The docking stations are used to hold mobile computers in vehicles and can be of great use to the police forces. Panasonic vehicle docks allow the Toughbook or Toughpad computers to be removed from the vehicle and be used during engagement with criminals allowing flexibility to police officers.
