Budget £1200 Max....
Room size 5,25m x 4.5m
viewing from approx 14ft distance
Sound can / will be via a seperate AV and Kef Eggs.

Viewing habits : We are mainly TV (Sky) viewers with occasional films and dont have any Blue Ray or HD ciscs at all as yet.

Kids use Wii Fit, and PS.

Which of the Pana or LG should I look at , or, what else will meet our needs?

Thank you.

At that viewing distance you dont need 1080p.

Very true ... but both are still decent sets.

If you are lucky Richer Sounds have some 50" Pioneer 8G sets still littered about the company and just dropped them down to £1000. My local had one in the dem room which was virtually never used, i suspect this will be similar with the other sets so for the price this is a very good deal...

PDPSX5080 ( including stand and speakers usually ) this television is *much* better than the 2 you list above.

If not then alternatives come in the 2 you mention... or the "none 1080p" 50PG6000 ( none 1080p set from LG )... some samsung 50" 4 series set which is also pretty good for the money and cost drastically less around £700.
