Looking to spend 5k on a 50in plasma.

Have wittled down the field to the Pany THPV30CAB & Pioneer 505 XDE.

Wondering what the forum thinks on the two models especially as I can't find a review on the Panny.

    Current equipment Denon 3801,Pioneer DV737, B&W 600 speakers

I have had the 50 inch Viera for about a month now. I am very pleased with it. Things I like about it are that it is well equipped, good picture, decent sound, wife friendly, black surround, price, auto mode, PinP. Things I don't like are slight hint of colour banding on certain dark scenes (from DVD), the fact that I have set it to power up on AV but it insists on powering up in Freeview.

All in all very pleased, though I have to say I have no serious experience of any other plasma.

You really need an integrated plasma TV with that setup? You have sound and video switching, you could do very well with a monitor only type. If you have no sky or cable, you can get a component video freeview box for £65.

I have digital cable connected at the moment so I could go monitor only, what additional benefits except for price do you think the other monitor only models have.

I understand that the Pioneer is a 504HDE with a intergrated tuner but isnt the Panny different from any other Panasonic monitor only models.

Also what do you think about not having HDMI inputs am I taking a big risk.
