Ist and 3rd Sockets are RGB, Are you using just a composite lead on the Xbox ? Maybe you can only use RGB on socket 3.Try it in Socket 2 if it doesn't work sounds like a faulty lead.

ive changed it over and i put the dvd into the 3rd scart socket, then no picture came through, what needs to go in there from my dvd player in order for it to display?

If the DVD is now plugged into AV3 (which I believe is one of the RGB scarts) then you should change your DVD players settings to output an RGB signal.

Tony, Hope you sorted your connections out.If I had your setup I'd buy an advanced scart lead for the xbox and connect it to AV4 (3rd scart lead) as you are wasting the PQ of your PV500 by using composite. You could also get the component Kit for the Xbox, you at least want an RGB connection on it.Is your Xbox modded at all, if it is you can use the component for progressive scan, it looks brilliant on the PV500.

With regard to your DVD, Has this got component out or the ability to select S-Video out through AV.This last option will be on the settings menu on the DVD player.

What I'm trying to say is composite PQ is terrible and if possible you should avoid it completely.BTW have you enabled RGB on your Sky Box ?

AV4 Korum ? come on Tony you must be able to work this out in the manual.

AV1-RGB scart on back of set
AV2-S-Video scart on back of set
AV3-Composite/s-video on the front of set
AV4-RGB scart on back of set

If you plugged in an advanced scart lead into the 3rd scart socket (AV4) on the back of the PV500 it would have been RGB so you've either got a faulty Xbox lead or there is something up with the scart connection.

Just a thought Tony, you're not actually selecting AV3 thinking it's the 3rd scart are you ? This TV has awful AV selection hasn't it, you would have thought AV3 would be the 3rd Scart and I wont even go into how to select the AV channels on the remote.
