Just purchased this 9 series panasonic plasma panel and wanted to know if anyone could kindly help me set the picture settings to an optimal level?

Appreciate this is subjective, but a good starting point would help

Without wishing to be unhelpful this question has been asked on numerous occasions. Just search for PH9 and PQ and you'll find lots of helpful replies.

And to show I have a heart take it out of Dynamic mode and put it in Cinema. :hiya:

Ok fair point! Ive only just joined the forum world and stupidly didnt check other posts first.

However having now read all the posts re the PH9 I'm even more confused, and think its probably best to just go with trial and error.

BTW My peak limit is currently off and this seems to differ across posts. Was either decided upon as a good starting point?

As you're a newbie I'll show some compassion. :D Wouldn't want you harming that nice display.

I had an extended discussion on PQ and home calibration after buying the DVE DVD. The settings I am using are shown here http://www.avforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4390221&postcount=28

As your panel is pretty new turn to contrast down to -15 for the first 200 hours after which you'l be fine increasing it. The PH9 is extremely robust but it makes sense to be prudent. When you have a spare hour or so read the entire thread.

Just be aware that all PH9s are slightly different and what works for me may look wrong on your screen. The important thing is to keep contrast and brightness at moderate levels until it's run in.

The peak limiter is there mainly for video gamers. If you don't intend playing games then turn it Off.

Cheers.

OK great. Thanks for your help.

Glad I looked at these settings as from reading the others posted it seemed that 'warm' was the way to go.

Yes panel is brand new and so will do as you say re contrast

Thanks again

Hi Lee,

You've reaped the benefits of several hours with the DVE calibration DVD. Glad you've got a better picture. As far as Warm, Cool, Normal is concerned just use your judgement but bear in mind the picture settings will need changing. There was a poll on this recently and all three values were in use. Just trust what your eyes tell you.

Cheers,

Hi Jacko,

You're welcome. With the brighter days I now have contrast at 13 and brightness at 4. All other settings remain the same. You're safe to increase contrast now.

Cheers,
