Hi everyone I am new to this forum but have been looking around for a plasma around 1500 - 2000 notes, have today seen the above panasonic being unveiled out of its box in power house.

they stated its the latest panel from panny, the picture looked sharp and was very impressed, have searched the net but cannot find any info about it or reviews.

    anyone seen this before ?

I have been looking at the lg 42px11 and samsung ps42d4sxx but I am lost on these plasmas, more of a computer freak myself.

anyone help with which one to choose the lg is around 1400 and the panasonic 2000 with the samsung somewhere in the middle.

please help this plasma idiot Nooby.

I believe Powerhouse have these in stock now, for more info on this plasma see this thread: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198462

    Also specs here:
    http://www.av-sales.co.uk/plasma/panasonic-pv500-specs.pdf

    And cheaper price here:
    http://www.letsgodigital.co.uk/html...anasonic_th42pe50_16_9_plasma_television.html

This one is the first new Panasonic to be released and is a Standard Definition (852x480) Plasma, if you want a High Definition Plasma (1024x720) you will have to wait for the other model Panasonic TH-42PV500 coming out June, will probably be about £500 dearer.

I would wait until you have had lots of advice before buying, depending what you want to use you plasma for, there are lots of experts happy to help

    Hope this helps.

Will the SD models have a better picture with SKY+ than the HD ones? Equally, will the HD ones look better with DVDs than the SD ones? Decisions, decisions...

thanks for your replies, Ive just come form the sony centre and seen the KDE-P42MRX1 for £3999.99 with 3yr warranty and stand, this plasma had a fantastic picture and looked superb with the glass surround making the picture look like it was floating.

Started to make me think about upping my budget but as I am newbie wanted to know if it was worth the extra cash ???

That's an awesome deal to be honest, the guarantee would cost £300 anywhere else.. just depends if you need HD ready, if not it's a good buy
