Check the website yesterday and they are doing the above with free stand, free delivery and free 5 years guarantee for £2495!! That seems pretty good to me!

Until you see the poor picture the Viera puts out... :D

I hope you've compared it to other sets. I've just spent the weekend with my sister's 42" Viera - how anyone can rave about a set with such poor brightness, detail and colour accuracy is beyond me...

Your friends will laugh if you tell them you bought it because its the best picture you can get.

At least take a good look at the Sony KDE-P42XS1 (hoochie mama, what a picture in every way except blacks and contrast)...or for that money, a Panasonic PHD7 (that IS a picture to show off).

I have the Panasonic Viera 37 inch and quite honestly am really impressed with the picture quality....in fact it's the best I seen and I have looked at Sony's,LG,Samsung,Pioneer, etc etc....but it's all down to the individual I suppose...if you are happy with it then no one else matters :smashin:

Don't take one persons negative opinion of the Viera :nono: , there are plenty of very happy Viera owners on this forum.

View as many as possible, then decide with your own eyes.

    Cheers,Tam

Pretty good price from them. It's a great TV.

Sony can't be that good if everything but the contrast and blacks aren't good on it ?

Seems a good deal and its also imo the best plasme at doing everything well.
If youre wathching 70% tv and 30% dvd this is the set to have.
Also buying at JL you have the 5yr warranty.
Downside is the new models are close to release and they promise to be even better ..
Dip your toe in now and you wont be disappointed, wait a month or two and
    you will be happier.

I really like this TV as well, and am thinking of buying it. The price appeals to me as well. One of the reasons I would like this is the small 'footprint' as we don't have much space for it.

The 'slight' thing that puts me off is the lack to HDTV support, although I'm not sure if I would even need that function to be honest.

Anyone any info on the 'newer' models? prices etc

No info for the new UK model Vieras as yet ,although panasonic .com will give you some idea from the American market.
Panny UK told they are due to launch in March.
I personaly cant wait, even so you cant go wrong with the current model
looks even better with the price drops.
    I have a TH37PE30 and a 435 xde, so i can only tell you what i have seen .
Panny for tv, pio for dvd.

I couldn't agree more - choose what's best to your eyes and requirements!
I'm the first to tell people to do this. When I said "I hope you've looked at other sets", I meant this quite literally.

Suffice to say, I've just hooked up my brand new Philips 42PF9946 (for the bedroom) and I can confirm that to my eyes it betters the Viera. I don't think you are getting better picture quality for your extra £1000 on the Panny...don't get carried away by this forum's enthusiasm for Panasonic and the fairly expensive price tag on the Viera: neither of these is any kind of guarantee of performance.

Certainly, if you don't watch "Shadowy Scenes Volume #13" all day long, there are much better alternatives...

Have to agree for TV, simple plug and play, the Viera is the best model out there by far.

The new models maybe worth waiting for though. But as is somewhat strangely suggested here, it certainly does not put out a bad picture.

Go demo and see for yourself but it's a good price for the whole package from JL.
