My advice would be: don't rely exclusively on other people's opinion. If your eyes tell you it's the screen you want when you demo it, then buy it. If you don't see anything wrong with the screen you get, then don't worry about anyone else's problems.

For the record, mine works just fine.

I agree with daveydw, I'm very happy with my 42'' PV500, I was awaiting delivery when all these problems started to surface on here and I was getting very nervous but the PQ is fantastic.

If it impressed you buy it, I've never seen colour banding on mine,Never had a problem with burn-in,I've seen the auto-contrast feature and it is not a problem,It buzzes but so does every other plasma,I've never seen a 'near invisible line' on it.

I set it up according to the numerous threads on here and all I see is fantastic PQ on Sky,DVD and games consoles, I also ran my PC through it and was very impressed with how it looked,Also ran a few HD clips through the PC and it looked truly incredible so I can't wait for all this HD equipment to be released,Oh and I didn't mention how good the sound is on it,the only minus is it's lack of overscanning options in the service menu's but someone may find out where they are.

Another happy PV500 owner here, don't worry about the posts, at least you know what to look for.
