The direct input selection is a major thing for custom installers.Especially if you programme prontos and cheaper universals. It also has the higher colour count of 8.58 billion compared to the 7 series, and although a SD panel it can can display 1080p 24p/24sf, 1080i 50/60, 720p 50/60, 480p/i and 576 p/i and offer support for VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA and UXGA resolution.
nice sd panel from the spec but as always the proof is in the piccy quality.

it realy looks like this model was designed just for the commercial market, now that they have the new veira's will they treat the PW8 the same as they did the ealier models which were for both markets.

I have to agree Xvani. I was sort of expecting the PWD8s to be the same res as the PV500s, which is also 8 Gen panel rather than SD.

Will it only be the PHD8 that is HD in this range? I wonder what price that will come in at, compared to the PV500? Would it be sensible to expect it to be cheaper, since you won't get the speakers & tuner?

It looks to me that Pannys professional series are generally cheaper then the PA's (for home use)

The PWD8 DOES indeed have a G8 panel. It is just not HD-ready (resolution too low)

It's exactly the same as it has been the last few generations:

    37PWD - 37" SD
    42PWD - 42" SD
    42PHD - 42" HD
    50PHD - 50" HD

[just add generation number after the "D" e.g. PWD7, PHD6)

The linked article is only referring to the launch of the SD panels, the HD ones will come soon enough. Would be nice to see the 37" HD panel in monitor only form...

US retailers are already listing the SD product ...

    http://www.electronics-depot.com/panasonic_th-42pwd8uk.html

Before anyone asks the "UK" designation does not mean UK market - it's just the new suffix Panasonic are using in the US.

Also the image is still of the old model - no pictures of the new model until next month !

That price - if it's correct makes one weep - Can't see the SD model being under £1000 here :(

    Gussie :)
