I am looking to purchase a TH-42PWD7 but am a little confused about the models and model numbers.

From what I have read the TH-42PWD7UY is the american version and the TH-42PWD7BS/BK are the english versions.

Many uk websites seem to be selling the UY version, whats the difference between these and will I have any problems with the UY version?

    Thanks in advance

Biggest problem is NO WARRANTY AT ALL, and a little uncertainty about whether the parts are totally interchangeable. You can of course buy a warranty, no idea what happens if it goew wrong in the 1st year, you'd have to ring TADL and ask them.

    I got a PWD7 from 24-7 electricals for £1060 quid with a 3 year warranty.

It arrived yesterday and I still can't believe how good it is. It beats the crap out of my Thomson 32inch crt which I annoyingly paid 740 quid for 12 months ago.

    Cracking price that.

How was the service from 247, I got my pwd7 in January from AV-Sales and their pre and post sales service was top class. I ordered something else from 24-7 and had nowt but hassle.

Sorry, my bad. It was 121 electricals not 24-7.

The service was pretty good. I ordered it on Sunday on the net then got a phone call on Monday morning asking me if I was aware that this model was not a television but a display panel and if this was ok.

It came yesterday morning. The delivery was a bit steep at 80 quid but it still worked out cheaper than elsewhere.

I got the wall mount for it from av sales at the special forum price. Well worth a ton IMHO because it's a really well fabricated bit of kit.

Overall I'm well chuffed and can't see any reason to not recommend them, especially at that price.

I'm no expert but compared to my old (decent) crt. It's superb.

I have all the settings down low and it still beats the crt hands down.

If it's picture quality you're after you won't be disappointed with the PWD7.

i know, its a mind field seka. im not that fussed about HD for now but always loved the idea of a pc input with broadband setup, for browsing during halftime in the match on throught the ads or with PIP option but id image we will need at least 1024x768 res for the desktop to look half desent. if this is the case im going to try and hold off for the PHD8 but paying double the price for just a good pc input?????? that extra gran would buy you a top notch new pc to sit in the corner with a nice TFT moniter......

They don't look too bad fed native, but the desktop is too small to be useful. 1280/720 does the biz for most SD panel owning PC fans, and retains the aspect ratio of everything correctly. It's a tiny bit fuzzy on small text, but OK other than that. Of course a HD panel is better, but they are twice the price.
