    Hi all,

My brother in law has a Panasonic TH-42PA20 that he purchased about 1 yr ago. He wants Sky HD but is unsure if it will support it??

I have had a quick look around on Google and on this site but cant seem to find a lot about it. I'm not a Panasonic man (see sig) but know some people were talking about the Panasonics showing good HD pictures even if the set was not HD ready?

Any help from you pros would be much appreciated :)

As you say its a low res panel 840x480 or similiar, what you need to find out is if it accepts 720p @ 50hz through component, the specs should be in the manual. It might only accept 720p @ 60hz  The 8th generation plasma's will do 50hz, but I don't think the 7th generation will. If you do a search there was a big discussion about 7th gen panny's and there inablity to work with Sky. Sorry if thats not the answer you want but you need the manual for the definitive answer.

    Cheers Rooster-X

    2700?? do you mean a 7200??

If so excellent with the sammy via HDMI, only had the sammy a few days but played a few discs and very happy with it. Purchased it S/H from the classifieds on here for £90 :) I had to go the sammy route as I needed a black unit to match existing set up! even at £110/120 new this is good value.

7200, yes. Both the Sammy 850 & 950 seem to be popular machines. I would need the black myself however. Cheers
