Dear All,

I've just posted this on the all-in-one forum but I thought I might get a few good ideas from this forum - from members who might have an alternative solution (DVD recorder + separates) for under £550....
thank you

Does anyone on this board own one or know about them?

I'm looking for a decent all in one to go with my Panny PW7 - and preferably one with a DVD recorder (mainly because I have loads of old VHS to convert to DVD).

I've read a lot of good things about this system but not sure on how the sound perofrmance will be affected by having the rear speakers placed on the floor (new flat and no shelves!) not too mention that they will look a little messy. But the good things seem to be that it has progressive scan, will go with my plasma, has a DVD recorder and is good for the price...

what shall I do?

Thanks hornydragon - and the thread is useful.
Do you have the separates you recommend? Will the amp and DVDR stack OK? (sorry, girly question), are the separates difficult to set-up and do the Cantons come with speaker stands because this my original issue with the panasonic??

Hi Suki ( no i dont own the kit in question, but lots of people do) they will stack fine, could go for matching Pio 420 DVD recorder but E55 is excellent, Cantons dont come with stands but you can order them, LS90 is the canton model code, there is a big Canton CD1 thread in speaker forum for more info..................

thanks again - just had a look at the price of the Pio 420 DVD though...100 pounds more expensive than the E55...perhaps I can stretch to the E65. If I get the Pio 402 amp, the E55 and the Cantons which extra cables do I need for my Panasnoic PW7?

When I bought my plasma I also bought:

Component SVHS Composite Dual Slot BNC
RGB to VGA JS
1M 3 RCA-3BNC Van Damme Cable
2m length HD 15 pin VGA to HD 15 pin VGA !!!

as recommended by AV sales!!

I would only need to hook up the equipment you recommend, plus a Sky digibox to the PW7.

many, many thanks!!

PS do you know if its easy to transfer VHS to DVD using the E55?

there are loads of ways to connect this lot up..........see the help a beginner thread, you have every input you could need on the PW7..(well done guys)

VHS<DVDR what do you want to copy, stuff recodred off TV home movies is easy commercial VHS Films Disney etc needs more thought and some special not exactly legal bits of kit to get over macrovision in the VHS tapes (commercial releases)
normally i would say SKY>E55/65> component imput SKY VCR>VCR> composite input (if you go this route the pio 714 amp may be more useful than 402 As you wont need the scart switching that makes the 402 so good............. needs a bit of thought Suki G

Congrats on your 10,000th post! Blimey you must live on here...

Just editing old home VHS - but its not a major concern - as long as it can be done.

So does the stuff AV sales sent me fit iwith the pio 402/e55/canton- horneydragon-combo?

Do I need more leads when I buy the pioneer or the E55 or do I have everything (and could I send any of it back to AV if I have too much!!)

gracias

You have all you need, You may not need the JS RGB>VGA box and VGA lead but i would probably keep it......or swap it for a scart board....
