I have searched these forums and can find no definate answer. So could anyone let me know for sure if the s97 has HDCP enabled on the HDMI output? The manual perhaps hints it has without really stating it.ie it says a code number appears if the HDMI connections are not compatible. Thanks in advance.

It HAS to have HDCP enable by default.

dont wish to sound alarm bells, but I quizzed a dealer as to why dvd players that can output to hdmi in one form or another, are in such short supply. He said that the current batch have hiccups with HDCP compliancy, and all the makers are just flushing the stock out the system and new players will be out in the autumn. I should add, that is his opinion and I have not seen any evidence to back it up.

The reason i ask is i've connected the s97 into a "black box" via hdmi/dvi its outputting via RGBhv and upscaling to 1080i,im watching it on an analogue projector. The HDCP is disabled.Sin City looks pretty impressive.

multi region hack doesn't cahnge this. Some player have hacks that happen to do multi region and defeat HDCP (Samsung) but not the Panny. There should be no connection between HDCP and multi region
