So, after nearly 2 months, I got my Panny 42" back. It looked okay cosmetically when it was sitting on my carpet, and then the delivery guys installed it on my wall and we tested out the repair which was fine. But then I noticed the big scratch on the bottom edge - it looks like it was dragged across a hard surface - maybe along the edge of something.

Anybody else had problems like this?

Just spoke to Panasonic who will replace the casing for me, but the thought of having their scruffy and scratched loan screen back on the wall again - sob!

    :-(

    Nick,
You could get Panasonic to send you a man with the bezel.

I have been informed it's a matter of undoing 4 screws and possibly a couple of clips and it comes off.
Should'nt take more than a few minutes, unless you try it on your own !

P.S. Did you take out Panasonics extended warranty ?

    Steve.

    Steve,

Excellent suggestion - thanks! Bearing in mind that I live 16 miles from Panasonic in Bracknell, and that Baron McCann (the company that looks after the delivery and collection for them) is in Derby, it would make a lot of sense to do as you suggest.

Unfortunately, Panasonic insist that they deliver a loan screen from Derby, take mine back to Derby, then take it to Bracknell, change the bevel, then back to Derby and then finally to Guildford. So, about 500 miles to make a 32 mile round trip. No wonder the bloody thing got scratched!

I phoned them today, and that is what they will do. Period.

I have an extended warrantly with the supplier (Techtronics - never again!) but this is all being handled directly with Panasonic as the panel was only 11 months old.

    yes advice

    dont

if you want good after service use joe from tfm or liam from av-sales or nexnix

might be a little more cash but worth it for peace of mind.

i have never bought a plasma from tectronics but had loads of trouble with a dvd player.

    Andy,

Definitely treat Techtronics with caution. I have bought a few things, but never again. Their after-sales attitute is to not give a damn, and they took over 2 weeks to do a simple thing like refund me after charging my Visa card twice on the same say for the same DVD player even though each time they phoned they promised to do it that day.

I cancelled an order with Techtronics and they took the money from my credit card any way. They gave it back only after 6-8 weeks of delay and the threat of legal action.

Have heard a number of issues with Techtronic.

I've dealt with the following companies without any issues:

    av-sales.com, Joe@TMF and www.plasma4u.com all have given
great service and I would use them all again.

    Neil.

Shame, techtronics have the best (advertised) price for the new panasonic TX22L3. Oh well.

Don't forget NEXNIX as well. Many posts have stated how good their aftersales is.

    Steve.
