    Hi,

Looking for some help locating stock of the Panasonic PTAE1000 lcd projector.

Finally decided to go for one due to the excellent price (£1'700) and rave reviews but no one seems to have any stock left.

Sound and Vision say no stock - discontinued
Roy Jowett say no stock - discontinued
Discount TV say no stock - discontinued
    Sevenoaks say no stock

Searched the net but no joy :(

Panasonic told me it is now discontinued due to the imminent release of the new PTAE2000.

Surely someone has stock somewhere ?

    Help :lease:

Must be brand new UK boxed stock though

I reckon that will be around £2'500, my budget won't stretch to that.

It's basically much the same machine with a few additional tweaks (1500 lumens as opposed to 1100) etc etc.

    Not worth the extra expense.

I mean a top notch projector that was £3'500 rrp when released down to £1'700 !

...Damn I hate missing a bargain ! :suicide:

I'm absolutely certain the new Sanyo z2000 is going to be sub 2K. Sanyo have quoted $2995 US and 2799 euros and Sanyo don't usually try to rip off us Brits. Hopefully this means the Epson TW2000 and Panny AE2000 will be reasonably priced to compete ( and give us a bit of a choice ). Please don't make a fool of me Sanyo

I know of an ex demo unit that was for sale in dundee at john ross hi fi. I demoed it last week. It had I think it had 170 hrs on the clock and they were offering full 3 year gaurantee etc. They were asking 2000 for it but I am sure they could be knocked down

not sure if is what you want but may be the best deal you can now find

Thanks for that one u02ai, spoke to them today.

He is looking for around £1900, only 1 year warranty though.

Don't normally like ex display stuff and still a bit pricey.

Problem is most of any remaining ones anywhere will probably be ex demos.

Will think about it ..... Still looking ... anyone else ???

I'm one of the fortunates who got my order in, so will receive early next week. I did ring round last week and found stock at Forum Hi Fi in Nottingham although there price was £1.850. So a bit higher but still great value. I've bought quite a bit from them so can recommend.

the guy spoke to my wife yest as I was out- he offered 1800 and a 3 year warranty to her. When I demoed the unit I said about the price being so low online and they said that they would check with the manager and phone back............By that time I had already ordered one of the last few from av sales. Maybe leave it for a bit and he will come down in price more?

The problem is the guy knows there is virtually no stock left in the UK so is keeping his price high.:nono:

He also said the pj had only around 10 hours on it although you said 170 so he must be fibbin', he was definitely only offering 1 year warranty too.

Could have been another salesman though !

Will try a few other companies tomorrow, although I'll keep him on my list

Yeah, I was reading the operator manual about re-setting the lamp hours, very easy to do.
I'd have thought you would have to insert a new bulb to allow you to do that.

He's a naughty chap if that's what he's done :nono:

Don't think I'll be going ex demo now anyway.

I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I won't get a new PTAE1000 now:(.

Think I might just opt for the AX100 or the new AX200 (due out anytime now).

I'm not using any HD equipment at the moment only standard DVD, so maybe not such a big loss after all.

Has anyone made any direct comparisons between the AE1000 and AX100 with standard DVD and 720p feeds ?

I'd wait a month, I'd be amazed if there aren't a selection of sub £2K 1080P projectors soon. I'm sure either the Sanyo Z2000 and the Mitsubishi 4900 will be comfortably under ( preferably both ).
