I'd guess that the PT-L702E is an older model and not the same range as the AE-100... for one it doesn't look like it has a 16:9 panel but a 4:3 panel with a 16:9 mode...

Thanks for confirming my thoughts, Boy wouldn't it be great if the resellers new what they were selling!

The PT-L702E is one of a range of six Portable LCD Presentation projectors from Panasonic - however this particular model whilst 4:3 (16:9 switchable) is also very good with video having a contrast ratio of 500:1 and 760 TV lines on a 1024 x 768 pixel panel.

This model has Panasonic's Digital Cinema Reality processing for movie reproduction - in the States the equivalent model is considered a good multi purpose presentation and Home Cinema projector.

The PT-L702E is also quieter and brighter in reduced lamp mode than the PT-AE100.

Also keep an eye out for the new PT-LC55 and 75 presentation projectors from Panasonic; they are both 4:3 panels that use the same video circuitry as found in the PT-AE100 - so not really a big brother AE-100 but maybe worth a look if you want a bit more brightness (1,200 Lumens).

    Best regards

    Joe

PS Some resellers/dealers have got a wee bit of a clue!

Thanks for letting me in on the trade secrets;) Seems that we customers are always looking for what is around the corner! Well I guess with the light evenings drawing in, there is going to be less incentive to make the purchasing decision quickly.

    Thanks again.

    Joe,

The LC75 is an XGA projector, so it can indeed be considered as a 'big brother' of the AE100. It should work great with anamorphic PAL DVDs, which have a resolution of 1024x576 pixels.

The LC55 is an SVGA model.

    Regards.

OK, how about we settle for a cousin as its a 4:3 chip and definitely in our Business Projector sector though as you say it looks perfect for the DVD market too.

    Regards

    beamer,

The 702e was discontinued last week, I tried to order one and cant get one. The new ptl c75 is suppost to be the big brother replacement, unfortunatly I can get one for 3 weeks as no ones got one in the country yet. Check out panasonics home page for spec

Thanks for the update. The Panny dealer called me yesterday to advise that a new PJ is going to be released in the June/August timeframe and he expects this to be the higher res version of the AE100. I don't know how he would know but he indicated the cost of the big brother would be around £3K.

    We shall see!

    Hello all

Just a quick update - we've had ISDN problems since Thursday so the mail box is pretty full.

The NEW Panasonic PT-LC75e is now available - though in limited supply.

    Best regards

    Joe
