I'm going to buy a panny PT-AE100 within the next month, probably from Audiovision in Brighouse, West Yorkshire.

Before I part with the cash, I'm interested in the prices other dealers charge.

I would probably still go to Audiovision but I might try and get them to match an other dealers price.

I'm particulary interested in Brad's dealer in West Yorkshire and Tim's who seems to be the cheapest so far at 1,400.

Thought I'd bump this one up...

Does anyone have a list of companies that sell Panasonic pj's?

I could call around, and find out prices and availability of the AE100, and let everyone know.

Panasonic is a big company with good distribution so why not wait the month or so until this projector is wide spread.

The question is, how much will places ED and QED sell it for. The local panasonic centres are usually expensive in comparison.

I got mine from the local Shop@Panasonic in Gloucester. I'm not quite sure of the arrangement, but this is owned by Hutchinsons:

    http://www.hutchinsons.com

who have the AE100 listed on their website for £1,425. The shop price was £1,500 but they agreed to honour the internet price. I was able to get a demo in the shop and check for no dead pixels. The manager (Justin Hutchinson) was very helpful. I would recommend them - they are expecting more units in next week.

You better check what their policy is about dead pixels on arrival. You could end up with a few of them, and won't be able to do nothing about it. (depends on how many of them there are, and where about on the screen). Check out the thread about Dead Pixels on this Forum for further info.

Joe, Media Factory can test the pj for dead pixels before sending it out to you. So you're guaranteed to get a good one.

I got a Panasonic PT-AE100 last week from Audiovision, Brighouse, West Yorkshire for £1,500.

I took advantage of their 10 months interest free credit offer.

I took a gamble and just ordered it, never even seen a LCD pj in action. It has no dead or bright pixels and exceeded my expectations.

    Guess I was lucky :)

Museumsteve, you won't be disappointed mate. It'll put a grin on your face!;)
And if for some reason you don't like it, blame Retronana. He can take it.:D

As for dead pixels, so far I know that myself, Anim, Retronana and Tim are all free of dead ones.
The demo at System Sound only had one in the top left hand corner.
As for everyone else, I haven't heard any complaints.
    So the odds are good.

I have three. Only ever notice them on an entirely black background when I'm looking really, really hard. They're really not the problem I was panicking over when I first got it.

One is stuck on green about 10% up from the bottom in the middle - it's in the black bars on 2.35:1 material, but disappears into the action in 16:9 or 4:3. The other two are very dim blue around the same screen height but over to the middle-left.

If you're put off ordering a PJ by dead pixels - don't panic! They're not nearly as bad as you'd think from reading the net. Having said that, if I had more than I do, I'd probably kick up a fuss.

I even wonder if some of the people who don't have any actually do and just haven't noticed :)

not panicking mate...just really looking forward to PS more than anything. I can;t believe the specs of this PJ. I bought my CS3 about 6 months ago and have totally been over the moon with it..so if this is better (which I;m sure it is) then I'll be shouting about it for ages..
thanks for your help guys on this. It's probably the quickest decision I;ve made..haha..:D

I will have to correct you on that one, I do have one green one in the lower half of the screen, I missed it at first, but like many have said, you never see them unless you go looking for them.
It isnt really a problem, unless it's quite high in the image.
Remember, if you have one in the top right hand corner, in desktop configeration, it will show up in the opposite corner, if you ceiling mount the projector.

    Great price!!!
I found a great price for the Panasonic PT-AE100E on my search for a price better than the one in Denmark (the most expensive country in Europe - I think!)
At http://www.hificomponents.de you get this projektor for only EUR 1877,00 whick equals approx. £ 1154!
A very nice price indeed - the site is in english too (not only german)

    Regards

    Claudes

Hificomponents is a very good dealer. My buddy bought his 3801 from there without a problem. Also according to Panasonic Sweden they will honor the EU warranty if the warranty card has been signed and stamped by the dealer.

Also look in the receiver forum where there are people who has good experiences with them.

I'm waiting for a final word from my job what the employee price will be, but I suspect I will be placing an order with Hificomponents for the Panny next week.

I'm sure it would be fine. Price on their website was about 875 ukp. I myself would pay the extra for DHL delivery: 60 more quid. I think you'd probably have to pay VAT in customs, so this would add another 200 quid... so not much of a saving on the hificomponents price.

Sounds to dodgey buying from Japan, what happen's if you have problems with it, or dead pixels into double figure's
Joe at the Media Factory offer's a good deal, £1400 and another £25 for a dead pixel check, this would be the best £25 you would spend in your life, I would have bought from them myself but I am not very patient, they should have them in soon, click here
