What is reliably known about the new Panasonic plasmas 2012

- The new line gets name xx50. Top models will be - VT50. As I mentioned two months before the Japanese feel superstitious fear of the number 4

What you cite here is the old Energy Star specs, the new one is a max 108W at any size of the display, and it's not likely that anyone will reach that on the large panels.

Also, the Energy Star does not apply to the EU. There are other certifications here, but we will probably suffer since most of the models share most of the parts and designs across continents.

In a hurry I have written specifications for the last year. I corrected it ..
 
VT50 now exists only in the form of predfabrichni-samples, ie engineering models. So-called "masters". Mass production began in late January.

Panasonic began producing the VT50 back in January 2011 ?

Do they really start manufacturing sets 12+ months in advance... or should that read *begins* in late January - ie. 2012 ?

According to Which, the average energy consumption of the 42" VT30
is 243.5W (149.2W in "Eco mode"). HDTVtest write that it uses 200W
in THX mode. And that's the smallest panel VT30. It will be interesting
to see how much the VT50 series models use.

I don't see a 42" model in the VT50 list. In my opinion, the omission of
a set of that size in the UK would be a mistake, unless they're aiming to
be a niche manufacturer.
 
X shaped stands, these look absolutely disgusting on the Sammys. Lets hope Panasonic manage to produce something a little more attractive..........

There might be a 46VT50, which will be a fine replacement to the 42" model.

agree 100%. Highly doubt that x-shaped stands can be made attractive.

Note the phrase above the list : 'Warned that the list below is just speculation!' ;)

The same thing happened last year when the USA sizes were announced, with all their models being 50"+. Sure enough, 42 and 46" UK models followed.

Yep, that's right - the ST, GT and VT UK models all came in 42" and the ST and GT also in 46".

The top line /VT50/ - touch remote, Flash player, built-in WiFi. New glass design, in the name contains the word - prism

What about LCD line up? any Full-led with IPS-alpha????
There are rumors that there will be models with a diagonal of 47 and 55 inches.
There have been attempts to make some 40th series, Panasonic in the past, a complete failure. Decided not to risk it.

Something was said at some point about the largest consumer plasma yet for 2012. A 70 inch VT50 perhaps?
