panasonic phd8 vs pv500?

I have just read somewhere that the pv500 uses the same glass as the pv500. I have also read a review on a U.S site which reviews the equivalant models ands states they perform exactly the same.

If I am not planning on a seperate scaler is there a point in spending more money on the phd8 series over the pv500?

Please help, as i am about to place an order today.

Also, how good is av sales [online store] after sales service etc.?

AV Sales in my experience so far are very good. I have ordered a PHD8 today. Very efficient and friendly.

As far as PV500 or PHD8 - for my needs it was no contest - PHD8 for me. I don't want a TV I just need a pure panel without all the additional features.

A PHD8 is more tweakable, looks better, easier to calibrate and works very well with a scaler.

A PV500 will give you about the best picture you can get from a plasma TV IMO (not panel) with everything built in and is very wife-friendly.

You will not be disappointed with either, it depends what you want from your plamsa.

Bought a PHD8 over PV500 and not disapointed. Great pictures from the screen. If you have Sky or Freeview then you don't need a TV - get a monitor
