    A few things:

    1) I have yet to see a product live up to hype. As such you _really_ need to wait until these have been seen in the flesh before making a decision

    2) If the Pio did Native Res and was similar in PQ to the PHD8, the Pio would win hands-down for me. I am a sucker for the styling. ;)
As it is, I am keen to see how they compare to each other and whether the (likely) lack of NR on the Pio is a deal-breaker.

    3) Some people will prefer the PHD8

    4) Some people will prefer the Pio.

    5) You won't know which category you fall into until you see them and we know the full specs + pricing.

    6) Give it a couple of months. If you are looking to buy now try to curb that feeling of impatience.
I didn't and would have ended up with a horrid plasma if not for the fact they messed up they delivery so I could cancel it ;). I then waited 4 months before I got the Fuji.

    7) Opinons are like armpits after a 4-1 defeat. Most of them stink. (this one included ;))

    8) What comes after 8?

    9) Will you be using a PC? Mainly watching sports / DVD / Games consoles ... ? What is your budget?

    10) Don't underestimate the power of the styling. Beware the Viera if on the wall it will hang. hide it you will. (OK I know you didn't ask about the Viera but I just can't resist the dig and resulting flames)

    Guys,

There's going to be plenty of posts regarding these two screens in the forthcoming weeks/months so hold on to your saddles.

As you (kind of) said, opinions are likes a$$holes - everyone's got one

Both of these screens will cost circa £2,600 + (including speakers & stand) from the outset (late September?).

At the end of the day, you can only make a judgement call if you see the display in the flesh. Would you fork out £2,500 on someone's recommendation alone?! I think not.

    Regards

    Mark

It's definitely 1024, the 50 remains at 1280. It's not totally new glass, just evolution of the current one. Therefore, wild claims about contrast etc should be taken with a pinch of salt. I have no doubt it will be an improvement on the current one, so will the PHD8. Mind you, it's hard to tell a PWD8 froma 7 picture wise... Do remeber also when calling for opinions, some people's a$$holes are worth more than other people's opinions. I'd rather hear Gizlaroc and Rahmorak talking from where the sun don't shine than some others attempting to be knowlegeable.

Edit: Just to make certain, I am in no way casting any such aspersions on the people who have already contributed to the thread, just warning you to watch out for the brand fanatics who will be along shortly.

Out of interest, how can you possibly know this?

I assume you managed to get a new Flux Capacitor for your DeLorean :D

    Cheers,

My 42PHD6 can do 1080p/24, can't they all accept that?

Oh we are talking 1080i deinterlaced? so 1080/60p?

Is that going to be a format or will it be 1080p/24 ?
