Hi all - first post on a great forum. I've been reading it for some time now and have finally taken the plunge with a Panasonic TH37PE50.

My question is this - I notice there is a software download for a number of Panasonic IDTVs this weekend (see http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/download_schedule.pl). Does anyone know what the updates are? I've e-mailed Panasonic (through their web site) but so far no reply.

    Thanks in anticipation.

I think it will just be a freeview update, maybe new channels or new epg update or bug fixes, who knows, make sure you leave your plasma on standby to get the update.

That's what I was expecting however with my other Freeview boxes, the manufacturers usually post a list of upgrades/bug fixes for each download. Can't find anything from Panasonic though.

I've now received a reply from Panasonic ...

    ISSUE RESOLUTION: Dear Mr Boulby,

Thank you for your e-mail enquiry.

In response, I would explain that there is a software download scheduled
for 23-26 September and then repeated 30 September to 2 October 2005.

The download is to solve issues with loss of sound on E4, and when changing
from Men & Motors to BBC1. It is also for issues with inset pictures
    displaying on multiscreen channels.

I trust that the above information will be of assistance to you. However,
of course, if you should have any further queries, please do not hesitate
to contact us on 08705 357357 or customer.care@panasonic.co.uk and we will
    endeavour to assist.

    Regards
    Customer Support

    So now we know.

    Bob

Has anyone tested the update yet, to make sure that it doesn't introduce any problems?

I just installed it tonight. It did take about 20 minutes and nothing for me seems any different. On first going to the epg it did take a while for all the program listing to appear again, but its fine now.

Anyone else with any input on the effects of the update?
