    Hi all

After much web-surfing and chatting with salespeople, the Panasonic NVMX8 appears to be the one for me.

However, can anyone tell me if the MX8B is the same creature? I haven't seen any differentiation made in reviews or advertising. What is this mysterious B?

Also, is the PVDV852 the same camera by another (American) name? They appear similar, and I've read some encouraging reviews of the 852.

    Thanks and best wishes.

    Hi,

I've also been looking at the Panasonic NV-MX8B and have read the reviews of the MX8. From what I have seen there appears to be no difference but like you I am unsure.

I am particularly drawn to this model because of the analogue input so that I can convert my old 8mm tapes.

Does anyone know the difference? What does this B stand for?

    Thanks.

    Bob

Thanks for the response. I've since bought the MX8. (The B is the country code.) John Lewis price-matched to 799.

I'm delighted with it. Lovely to use. Well balanced. Easy and well positioned controls. The special effects are a delight. The stills are excellent, even at the lowest res (which gives you 140 pics on the card). It's quiet in operation (something that put me off some similarly priced models).

Buy it, Bob, you won't be disappointed...:D

    Best wishes,
    Angie

Where did you get the original price to get john lewis to pricematch. Jessops say they can do it for £940. If i could get it for £799 then i would buy one.

I've been looking at teh MX2 on letsgodigital for £595...

does the MX2 have the same manual controls as the MX8 ??
the main differences seem to be MX2 has no SD card or DV-in

    what else is there??

Is the MX2 just as good for moving image? stills don't interest me as I already have a high-quality digital stills camera.

The manual controls are important to me..

    Hi

It was a shop that advertised in one of the review mags. I think it was Empire, but I really can't be sure now. They had a retail outlet in Southampton. They included some freebies that JL would not, though JL did give a second year's guarantee. JL is now selling for £1095 (!!) and it is marked as discontinued.

    Best wishes,

I've got the GX7 and the PV-DC352 looks and probably is identical. It's just the overseas model number that's different.
