Does anyone know of a reason why I shouldn't buy this model?
Has anyone got a better suggestion for a S-VHS recorder that is
    about £150?

    Yo

How do you record in SHVS-ET mode.
I've switched the menu option, but how do you know if its recording in ET, it doesnt display anything anywhere to tell me.

There is an indicator on the front which says SVHS-ET in red when you have an ordinary tape in.

You have put an ordinary tape in and not an svhs tape?
