I am looking for a reasonable combo for 'bedroom' use; I need to meet the following requirements:

watchdvd, record tv to vhs simultaneously
    audio out to stereo amp
    rgb out for tv
pass through scart for sat sender
    multiregion
as it is for occasional use, reliability comes above pure picture quality

I have seen the panasonic nv-vhd1bs at <£300, and trust them as my main vcr from them has been excellent. Does anybody have experience of this unit, or know if it can be made multi-region ?

Never tested the Panasonic, but i am seeking a device for a similar situation.

Samsung have a new player coming out - the Samsung SVDVD3E. I presume this is a sequel to their popular DVD1E. The 3E has built in DTS and D5.1 decoders, which no other combo deck appears to have, plus it's almost 100 cheaper than the Panasonic.

    Empire-Direct have it here:

It's pre-order, which means it's due in the next 45 days. It's been on there a fairly long time now, so i should think there is only a week or two to go. Ring em and see perhaps?
