Panasonic NV-HD625B audio problem

Greetings,
I have just set up a second hand Panasonic NV-HD625B Video Cassette Recorder, using aerial and scart plug. Video works well, switches straight through automatically to video channel on TV when video playing, but no sound. TV sound works, but not if connected from video recorder. Any ideas please?

Genius!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I changed the incredibly expensive, thick, unbendable gold plated scart cable, that I thought I had checked thorougly, replaced it with a cheap one..... and it worked!
