Panasonic LED TV tuner picture problem

Been using a TX-L42E5B for a few weeks and getting very frustrated with the picture setup. HDMI inputs work OK, always a consistent bright crisp picture and no problems. "Dynamic" setting is always brighter than the rest of the options - as it should be.

But the built-in Freeview HD tuner is very woolly. Contrast seems to fall to about half or less compared to the same source via HDMI from a (Humax) STB and the picture settings: "dynamic, normal, cinema, true cinema" don't make a lot of difference. Everything else in the menus has been tweaked. Is this normal for this TV and do I have to hope for a software update?

Not too sure of your TV but my Panasonic has different picture settings for each input?

Mine does too, but all variations have been optimised.
Also the preset options differ between HDMI's and tuner.
I read a review of a similar 47" Panasonic in a mag. which, between the lines, said picture settings were a PITA, so I thought it may be a generic problem.
