Panasonic HX-DC1 Portrait

If I use my Panasonic HX-DC1 so viewer is in portrait mode the video plays back sideways - I have gone through the Manual and cannot see how to switch from landscape to portrait. Is there a way of doing this?

Alternatively, if it is not possible to record in portrait mode, can the film be "turned on its side"? I found a freeware programme that plays videos the other way round but they were distorted in the process. Does anyone have one that works well?

Thanks

FWIW you can't - it is a severe limitation of the drive forced upon us to enjoy "Widescreen" so Hollywood can push spectaculars.

If you're keen to improve, then you need to move the camera, so the person is at the centre of a pan (unlike a normal pan, where the camera is pivoting, but fixed.). I think pros call this a tracking shot, you'll see them in films and documentaries.... really "lifts" the shot!

Very few users do this - it is darn difficult, (but I'm working on it.)
