There is a setup option on the HS2 where you can choose between 'Squeeze' and 'Letterbox' when dubbing to DVD-R. The manual says this is for DVD playback on 4:3 TVs.

The first DVD I dubbed to (before I discovered the setup option) was in 'Squeeze' mode and indeed it plays back full screen and stretched in the vertical plane on my 4:3 TV.

No problem I thought.... just change the option to 'letterbox' and it will be letterboxed with black bars top and bottom..... but no......it still plays back the same as before.

Has anyone come across this and offer any advice?

The DVD player I'm trying to play the DVDs on is a Panasonic SC-HT80 (BTW it is set to 4:3 in its setup menu) and the TV is a 14inch Sony portable. The original recordings were broadcast in widescreen.

    Cheers,

    Chris
