Panasonic HDC-SD5 video not writing to PC

Hi all, I am after some expert advice.
I have a Panasonic HDC-SD5 Camcorder which writes to a High Capacity SD Card.

I am trying to download images onto my PC in order to save my recordings to DVD.

However, this is where my problem lies. The Camcorder came with 'HD Writer 2.0E for SX/SD', which I have successfully installed on my PC. When I connect the Camcorder to the PC it recognises the device attached but it cannot see any images. It says the images are bad. All video recording plays fine back through the Camcorder and even when connected via HDMI to a TV.

The Camcorder has PictBridge mode for Photos and these download o.k. off the SD card - it is just the video.

I have tried putting my SD card into two different readers but it still does not like it.

Any help in how I might proceed, even outside using the 'HD Writer 2.0E' software, would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Melanie
