I have one of the first Panasonic Dvd/HD recorder (HS2....) but the Hard Disk is a bit small - can I change the Hard disk or would that ruin the machine ?

You can put a new HDD in the Panasonic HS2 with a bit of effort but the machine simply won't recognise more than 40GB of disk space, i.e. making the replacement a waste of time.
