Panasonic GT50 UK Thread

After owning my current Toshiba 42Z3030 LCD since early 2007 -which has been great- I'm feeling the urge to upgrade and have been lusting after a 42" Plasma for years. As I only have a satellite connection and don't have (or want) Sky, I do feel I might be spending more then necessary considering I am not interested in 3D but I really like the idea of having the tuner and USB recording built into the set therefore reducing extra boxes under the TV. At the same time I am probably going to buy a new 5.1 system of some form (suggestions would be welcome) as my decade old Panasonic is getting a bit long in the tooth and I'd like to be able to get HD audio from my PS3... finally. The staff in the local Panasonic store are going to love me! Excuse my naivety, I am not particularly educated when it comes to this sort of thing.

I'll update the OP with any reviews that come in, and try to keep a list of the cheapest places to purchase the model from upon release. For now, here is a link to Panasonic's website listing the specs and prices at £1,496.99 for the 42" with the 50" pricing still TBA. These are said to be available for sale this month.

Who else is looking forward to these models? To start the discussions I have a few questions, do Panasonic have a Netflix 'app' on their sets yet? Have the previous models been able to pass the Freesat sound in 5.1 from the Television's optical output? Cheers :)

The 42" is the one I am waiting for to upgrade my 4 year old Panny plasma.
Was going to take advantage of the offers currently surrounding the 42VT30B but for the price difference and this green tinge thing I'm waiting for the new model.
