i just got this phone and have two things i cant figure out from the manual..

    1) can i set the phone to end a call when i close the handset?
(ie i dont have to press the end call button first)

    2) can i turn off the camera noise when it takes pictures?

    thanks all!

I have a GD87 on orange which i upgraded the firmware on(to A39). The phone sometimes seems to keep the call going when you close the flip but most of the times it ends the calls. It did this before and after I upgraded to the new firmware so i think its just a little bug with the phones themselves. It doesnt hapen to mine much.
The camera noise cannot be turned off in the phone menus but some firmwares dont have the camera noise actvive(my A39 doesnt) so the only way to change it is by changing between firmwares.

    Hope that helps a bit.

can you change firmware through orange or panasonic so you dont invalidate your warranty?
mine is currently got the a53 firmware which sounds good coz its a high number!

i emailed someone at the uk panasonic website and they told me it wasnt at all possible to fix either of the problems i mentioned with any firmware updates or any other way... do they not know what they are talking about or are they just not allowed to tell me?

All i know is that some of the firmwares come with camera sound and some without. I updated my orange phone but your right it does take it out of warranty and they wont do it for you.

I think your probably better off staying with the firmware youve got as the newer ones are fixing faults with the earlier ones. I went from A19 to A39 and it was much better.

its silly though coz the things that i wanna fix seem like things that should be standard on this kind of phone...
do the people who design these things actually ever use mobiles i wonder?

If the edit tool software you are on about is panasonic then I think all it is is a handset manager(so you can manage all your phone book entries and write SMS messages).
Probably pretty good if you use the infared on your phone to link your PC up. If you have bought a data cable though they normally come with software to do this.

    Hope that helps
