Having just bought a panasonic FZ3 i need a case for it , is there any one who has the same camera and can tell me if there is a case that fits resonably nice and tight, so that it protects the camera and is also not so bulky. also where i can purchase cheaply a protective filter to fit the lens adapter thingy that comes with the panny, s it a clear filter i need ? and is it 55 mm? im a newbie so any help with these bits and pieces i need i would be most gratefull thank you abnett.

Just been looking on 7dayshop and elsewhere for a decent filter (and a polariser). Looks like about £10-ish.

The bag I purchased was the Lowepro D-Res 25AW. It is a nice snug fit and has a small internal pouch just big enough for a spare battery and SD cards.
It also has a waterproof protective cover built into the bottom.

    Cheers

    abnett,
The lens size is 55mm. If using high street stores go to Jacopps always seem the cheapest but a good search for a internet price will beat these prices.

Have just done a quick search on the net, and the cheapest including postage is £19. I think Jessops sell it for £19.99, so you might as well get it from them.

so is there no way of fitting the adaptor and glare attachment in the official case with the camera? seems like rather bad planning if so... was going to order one but not so sure now

The case 'mouth' barely closes when the adaptor is on but the eyepiece is too big for the case to shut properly. The flower hood will go in if fitted 'backwards' but it doesn't help the eyepiece problem :( You can 'make' the case close but it's all 'bulgey' and awkward with the eyepiece still trying to burst out through the (non-sealable) mouth. Easier to see than type about and I can't take a snap of it because...

Obviously, neither the adaptor nor flower hood are meant to be on in there.

so is anyone going to be putting their official bag up on Ebay or anything? while it doesn't sound like it is the perfect solution i am still tempted. i have some Paypal credit to use up too so if anyone was willing to accept that then i might be more tempted...

Mine is for the classifieds or ebay. I'm getting some stuff together for a clearout. Should get what I paid on the latter.

The case is actually really nice, IMO. Very 'different' but also much more protective than the alternatives I was looking at. I like the colour (easy to spot amongst any other technoclutter) and the strap is just right. But ideally I'd like to leave the adaptor thingie on permanently...

I was going to post here and ask what the red fringe around my moon shot was but then I decided to Google first and found a great FAQ for the FZ3 here which answers the question. And I'll be out trying again later tonight :)

I think I took this with digital zoom on full so the resolution is low :( And it's a crop from the centre of the image.

Then I found someone who'd taken an awesome shot of the moon here and I just felt silly...

    Flimber,
Isn't it obvious that your link photo is of a plastic model of the moon. Looks like it was taken by NASA at the same time as the 'fake' shots of the Astronauts on the moon.
Are you going to try again to get rid of the red fringe? Be interested to see how you get on. I'm too lazy to try, and it's cloudy!
Thanks for the FAQ link, a bit easier to follow than the manual.
Good points about the case, but when I use my SLR and all the lenses, filters, hoods, films etc, I have to use an accessory case rather than the camera case that came with the camera.

Good moon night here in Sheffield friday night, but murky as hell since.
Going to Scotland next week to test drive the FZ3.

They are dead nice cases but such a shame that they won't fit the cam with it's adaptor and flower hood on.

    Welcome to the forums, BTW.
