Panasonic EZ1002 4K OLED TV owners and discussion thread

Hi there. The 65EZ1000 is currently available here for ca 2650 GBP. With the knowledge that (maybe) the FZ950 could be better in some ways, would you still consider buying the older model? FYI 65FZ950 is currently more expensive by ca 1000 GBP, but probably will go down later. I am in no rush to buy new TV. What do you think?

It's always a better idea to buy last years models to avoid paying newly released overpriced prices compared to clearance prices from the year before. Why not the EZ950?

You can get the EZ1002 on Panasonic eBay Outlet for £2500 currently - a refurbished model with 12 months warranty. Not bad considering it released at £6999.
From what I’ve read there have been cost saving measures implemented on the FZ952 series, to allow it to release at a much lower price. So, the EZ1002 could still be considered the top model to buy.

65EZ950 is approximately 2300 GBP, so the difference in comparison with clearance price of EZ1000 (brand new, in the box) is quite small (350 pounds), so I would choose the EZ1000, due to its better specs and mainly absolute black filter. My question really is if FZ950 is better TV than EZ1000. In that case I will wait for price reduction of the new model.

I would expect the FZ950 to be a more refined version of the EZ1000. For one thing the speaker sound bar is meant to be better. I doubt there is a huge difference in the picture quality- you’d have to see both side by side to tell.

Indeed, I do not think it's wise spending even £350 more for what is essentially better built in sound and a superior anti reflection filter.

Each manufacturer has their flagship and they have it because they know some people will always want the best they have to offer... it doesn't actually mean the flagships are going to have better quality control or better picture quality overall compared to cheaper models. Especially the case with these OLEDs that are all using the same panels and are all at the peak now of their development. My advice would be to buy the EZ950 or wait for the FZ950 to come down in price.

I has received a firmware update for my Danish 65EZ1000E. I really don´t know what the uddate is good for, as Panasonic - as usual is not very good to state much concerning their firmware udates.

My word the EZ1000 is a helluva stonking tv. It never lets up and, given good source material, it blows everything away. The accuracy never ceases to amaze, and from there you can colour the picture with the most lavish eye candy settings imaginable. I don't know how I'm gonna resist the EF950 when it gets dropped in price. Buying high end Panasonics is very addictive.

It helps that Mr Hother and The Pistol are the most meticulous owners on this forum. E.g. we always let the tv finish its compensation cycle, hence the negligible banding for us. Given this and the EZ1000's unrivaled accuracy, superlative colour and pixel precision, I say the EZ1000 is a keeper until it gives up the ghost!

It'll be interesting to compare the EZ1000 to the FZ950. Just as the EZ1000 was the best TV of 2017, the FZ950 will be the best TV of 2018. Prospective owners are in for a real treat, that I can tell you!

I dislike quoting myself but I was right. In 2017, in an objective shootout, conducted by HDTVTest, the magnificent EZ1000 won the coveted TV of the year award.

Ditto for the FZ800/950 for 2018.

The conditions were exactly the same, namely, an objective shootout. It's a great achievement and very gratifying to those of us who value the gold standard of colour accuracy and picture quality. To my eyes, it's kinda obvious that high end Panasonic TVs are the go to TVs for connoisseurs.

Friends, is Panasonic active in Australia ie., do they launch their new TV products in the Australian market at around the same time they would launch it in Europe, Canada, etc? I am particularly interested to know if the latest GZ2000 will be launched in Australia and if yes, is it generally much after it is launched in the Europe? I do recall there are some EZ952 and EZ1002 TV owners in this forum and perhaps they will be able to answer my question. Thanks.

Hi, Mr Lakshmanan, I live in Sydney Australia, ie the best city and country in the world, as long as socialism stays away. Of course we'll get the GZ2000. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy it, but it'll entail a long wait to ensure I get a good discount. I imagine the launch price will be AUD $8000 or more. Australian panasonic TVs are manufactured in Malaysia.

Given I'll have to wait upwards of 18 months, I might go for the FZ1000 instead, as it's very nicely priced atm. I already own the magnificent EZ1000 and, together with the FZ1000, I'll own two TVs of the year, a distinction which puts me in a class of my own in this great forum. So I have no complaints about getting the FZ1000, except that's it's not the GZ2000.

The GZ2000 will be the 2019 TV of the year, and not only that, it'll be the best TV ever made. This is more certain than 1+1=2. Also, the GZ2000 will be the nearest we can get to a genuine bespoke Panasonic TV. This excites me tremendously and represents the fulfillment of a dream. You'll have to fork out those shekels! I don't have a problem with that, but I don't want to pay more than I have to.

I can also guarantee The GZ2000 forum will have less pages than the EZ1000 forum. I'd strongly urge the mods not to make one giant GZ series thread, because in reality and in truth, a GZ2000 owner wouldn't want to be associated with lesser models.

Were you drunk or high when you wrote this?

I'm sorry to revive an old thread...

I recently purchased a Panasonic TC-65EZ1000C tv for $900 CDN (I work for Panasonic, had an inventory blow out sale) The TV was purchased as-is and came with zero operating hours on it, which I'm very happy about. But it came with some missing items in the box, and since it was purchased as-is Panasonic won't do anything about the missing items.
These are the items I'm missing:
SPEAKER CABLE (extension cable that plugs into the male end of the sound bar then to TV)
CABLE COVER (front) and
CABLE COVER (rear)
The manual does not have the part numbers for these and for the life of me I cannot find these online or even a service manual for this TV!
So I was wondering if anyone could help me with my situation?
Thanks in advance!

thank you for that information!

I finally found a service manual for this TV so now I have the part numbers I needed...
the speaker cable is not too bad, found one in Europe for around $50 CDN/shipped...
but I can't believe the two little plastic covers are almost $200!!! that's outrageous!
I wonder where else I could source these from...I guess best would be from a broken tv, but that's hard to find

Yeah you could probably buy a TV with a broken screen but intact back panels for less than that!
