Having bought the Panny E95 I was disappointed to find that you can't record mpeg4 to the PC card like you could with the E100.
When I tried the progressive scan output to my Philips plasma I found that the Philips doesn't accept progressive scan (confirmed by Philips) unless it is from the VGA input. It would be interesting to know if this is common with other makes.
Unlike the Pioneer Panasonic doesn't support Secam so you can't record French TV from satellite.
The manual refers to the AV1 socket as an input/output but as far as I can see only the AV2 will input. I had intended to use the component output to the plasma and use AV1 as an extra input.
Strangely it seems to have one feature that everyone says is lacking - it will dub from DVD-R to the hard disk, provided it's not copy protected of course.
There is no way of recording from any programme guide, either web-based or teletext-based.

Apart from the above it is easy to use and produces good recordings.

    Bill,
FRENCH TV-all of the French channels from Astra 1 at 19.2 are in PAL numerique,
those from Atlantic Bird 3 at 5.0 West are in Secam Analogique. You should have no problems recording from Astra
    Salutations
