Hope you can help. Considering buying this mainly so I can use as a convertor to improve my sky+ image to my projector. Believe it will convert the RGB to Progressive component. Have a couple of queries though

Checked Panasonic website and it doesn't say it will play back dual layer DVD-R. These would be recorded on my PC. Anyone know if it does or not?

Secondly what is performance like for play back of commercially bought dvds?

Can't help you on your first two points, though I'm sure others will.

playback on the E55 has been great for me. I've been astonished really. I held back from buying a recorder for a good while because (mine) would have to be a good player as well (I'm fussy!)

But the E55 outshines my old (GOOD pioneer) Easily!

The tech bods will be able to answer your other questions I hope! (I like to press play and be amazed!)

I don't think there's any such thing as dual layer DVD-R.
But, there is such a thing as dual layer DVD+R.

I have an E85, and I've just bought a dual layer DVD+R disc (£5 !). But I've not burned to it yet.

My guess is that it will work fine as even though the Panasonic won't burn a DVD+R disc, it does read them.
I've also heard that, oddly enough, dual layer DVD+R actually seems more compatible than single layer DVD+R.

    Hi Alan

    Did anyone answer this?

I am also considering purchasing the E55 to improve my picture quality for the AE500 projector - no connection to AE500 projector at present, I'm using my Plasma for viewing Sky+

    Can anyone advise?
