    Hi

Well after much umming and ahhing I've finally decided to go for the E55 (and the £169 deal at boots certainly helped the decision :), should be picking one up tomorrow as I have it reserved!).

So a few question if you don't mind.

a)I watch a lot of tv where its episodes. I will mainly be recording on to sky plus hard drive and then copy the programme(s)onto disc. Would I be able to fit say up to four (depending on bitrate/length obviously) on to one -r blank disc if the programmes are an hour long. Or is it a case of just being able to transfer one episode across and then finalize it?

b)Once the disc is finalized (assuming the answer to the above is "no" then I may as well just whack the hour long programme at the best bitrate availaible yes?) will the disc be able to be played on ANY region (whether its 1, 2,3,4 or whatever)dvd player without any problems?

c)will the disc be playable on any -r compatable pc dvd rom drive?

d)Can you transfer from Sky to -ram and then from -ram to - R. If you can is there any point in doing so?

e)Any preferences to which brand of -r discs to go for, and wheres the best place online to order from.

Cheers for any replies. I will probably be back tomorrow searching the forums on tips on how best to set it up.

You can copy as much or as little to a DVD-R until either the disc is full or you finalise it.

Yes - the disc will be Region 0 so will play in any DVD player. Note though that it will be a PAL disc so if sending to the US it won't play in their DVD players - because they don't support PAL. But all players here/europe/australia/nz etc multi-region or not will play the disc.

It should play back in virtually any PC drive.

If you have a PC DVD burner then you can follow my PC Guide: DVD-RAM to DVD-R thread (also found via the FAQ sticky at the top of the forum!). This allows you to use the features of DVD-RAM, i.e. accurate editting, before converting to compatible DVD-R.

Any 'big brand' media is normally fine: Maxell, Panasonic, Pioneer, Packard Bell, Sony, TDK, Verbatim etc etc Probably best to avoid 8x media as it can cause some issues. Some good suppliers are:
