I believe the E60 has greater music recording capabilities than the E50.

Has anyone compared the two and is there a noticeable difference?

Yes that's correct. The E60 allows you to record in LPCM when recording in XP mode. The E50 does not. This is ideal for concerts etc although the 1 hour's recording time isn't brilliant! The HS2/E100 have the same feature but obviously you can record for much longer in XP mode on their respective HDDs.

In all cases the picture bitrate is dropped (slightly) to compensate for the greater data rate used on the audio - so only use this feature for recording music where sound matters!
