Panasonic DVD Rec wont record freeview. Help needed!

Got a bit of a problem here. I purchased my Panasonic DVD rec last Nov which was great with my tv. However a couple of months ago I bought a 26" LCD Philips TV with integrated Freeview Digital TV decoder.
I have connected my Panasonic DVD Rec via AV2 on the Philips TV to the decoder input on the Panasonic Recorder. As per manual. The problem is when I try to record either off Analouge or digital freeview I get either a blank screen with no audio or just Audio only. If the TV is powered off I can record analouge tv.
I think the problem has to be with the integrated digital system but I cannot figure out how to resolve this issue.

Well, is the Philips TV capable of outputting a signal on its AV2? Is there something in the menu you need to enable, to allow this bidirectional flow?

What on earth is this "decoder input" that's on the Panasonic recorder?

A few model numbers would help as well...
