Do Panasonic make a DVD player or recorder with an HDMI connection? I would like to get one to match my new Panasonic TV but can't seem to find one.

If not is it possible to operate any other brands from a Panasonic remote?

Panasonic did - the S97. This has now been discontinued in the UK, although it still seems to be on sale in the rest of Europe (see the EISA awards 2005, as this is the award winning DVD player) and in the US. Does anyone know why they discontinued it in the UK? It is an excellent player, if you can still get your hands on one, especially with the lastest v.541 firmware update.

Thanks Barzo, that is the one I was considering but could not find anywhere in the UK that stocks it. Would a European model work with a UK TV?

No problem at all. You would only need to fit a UK standard plug to the power cable to replace the Euro-type plug fitted.

I wanted an S97 also, but went for the Denon 1920 instead with HDMI.

Be interested also to know why they discontinued it.

I emailed Panasonic Japan complaining about it. Whether they take notice is another matter.
