I have just received excellent help from Gavtech which led to the news that my DVD recorder has a COD (the laser doesn't work!) Have just unearthed the receipt from Richer Sounds to find we paid the extra for supacare, so might get a free repair.....as guarantee has another 12 months to go! Yippee:)

As a new member I still have to find my way around the site, so my apologies to those concerned if posting was placed in the wrong section!

I've always found Richer Sounds excellent, so I wouldn't be surprised if they just swapped it- the cost of repair may make it unfeasible. If so, you may be able to add money and upgrade if you want.

Also the OP is praising a fellow member for the help they provided, so it's not really customer service :)

Glad the forums managed to help get you on the way to sorting your troubles valerie.

The usual way to deal with a faulty device is to request from the supplier attention under customer protection legislation. Is there something that makes this particular problem different from that?

If its under supercare it will go to an RS repair centre (I believe that there are 2 still?).

It will go on the test bench and either be fixed and returned or, more likely, you will be given a new, equal or above spec, device.

Apologies to the OP, Greg and Iccz, I thought Gavtech was a company not an AVF member . I shouldn't speed read!

I'd like to think they'll tell you DVDs are obsolete and upgrade you to Blu-ray :smashin:
