Looking to buy a DVD recorder with HD for xmas just wondering if the Panasonic DMRHS2 is still a contender or is there newer models that woud be a better choice ie Tosh 32 gets a lot of mentions here.

It's main use wil be to replace the video recorder, Sky+ would be the obvious solution but I refuse to pay the £10 a month extra fee for a under performing service  i.e. constant repeats etc but thats another thread!!

    Many thanks for any replies

Whilst the HS2 is still a good DVD recorder there are better options available now: the Panasonic E85/E95, Toshiba RDXS32 or the Pioneer 420/520 are the current 'choice' HDD/DVDRs. Which one depends upon your specific needs/requirements.
