I have just purchased a Panasonic DMREZ25 DVD Recorder and I want to know if anyone knows how to connect a camcorder via the firewire DV input where it allows you to just playback what you have recorded rather than it just record it straight to DVD. Even with recording you still cannot see any picture playback.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have neither this particular Panasonic model, nor do I have a Firewire camcorder, but my understanding of the various scart, composite and DV connections available on the panny recorders is that you simply have to change the channel so that the display reads AV1/2/3/4 (delete as applicable). As long as you have the recorder set to the appropriate AV channel for the DV input you should then be able to see anything playing from the camcorder. Recording from the same channel will then enable you to archive the camcorder footage to a DVD disk.
