I have a six month old DMRes20 and it has started freezing and giving poor quality playback on recordings. I have tried with new RAM discs but makes no difference. Pre recorded DVD's work fine.
Anyone any ideas or must it go back ?

This is usually the sign of a poor freeview signal. Many STB's show block breakup of the picture when the aerial signal is poor. The ES20D and the EH60D just freeze the last good received frame rather than block breakup. The freezing stops when a good signal is received.

Thanks for this, no point it taking back if this is the problem.
Is there any easy way to boost the signal ?

I have a wideband TV aerial on the chimney of 2 storey building but even this is not enough in bad weather conditions of wind/rain despite having two inline TV one outlet amplifiers. BBC is usually good - it's usually the other muxes which give problems.

Try a booster - it may or may not make a difference. Did you have a STB prior to using the ES20D for freeview - if so - what was the reception on that like? Nobody can tell you whether a booster will work. It all depends on your location, aerial and nearby buildings/trees which may block the digital signal. Unlike analogue the freeview signal is line of sight from the transmitters. It is also a much weaker signal until the analogue switchoff.
