Panasonic dmre500 and mp3

    Does anybody know if it is possible to transfer on new Panasonic dmre500 recorder music(mp3) and photos (jpeg) on HDD? :confused:

    Apparently so - plus the Ethernet connection allows files (presumably MP3s, WMAs and JPEGs and possible MPEG4 video) to be streamed from a PC (or anther E500). A major step forward for HDD/DVDRs IMHO.

    This is a very important update to the 95 model except bigger disk. I think I'll go for this one. :thumbsup:

    And Pio 520 ? Can do that ? If I put CD with Mp 3/ Jpg files in can I transfer/copy them to HDD ?

    No. Only the Panasonic E500 offers this feature at present.

    According to German Video magazine Panasonic DMRE500 supports mp3 playback only from CD and not from HD. Network is used only for video, you can't send jpg either.

    Radzak what do you think. It's a recorder in Germany the same as in UK?

    I still can't understand why HD on recorders can't be used for music archive. :oops:

    Well my information came from What Video magazine - who I believe have had a hands on. The presence of the Ethernet port is encouraging as well - it prime use is for streaming media from a PC and so HDD storage of MP3s/JPEGS/WMAs would make sense. Guess we'll have to wait for a hands on before we know properly.
