I posted this on another thread by mistake I think this is the correct thread.

Can anyone help please help me to set up and get the best sound from my blu-ray player panasonic-dmr-pwt520eb connected to Samsung ps64e8000 TV via hdmi and to Yamaha RX-A1010 AV receiver via coax/opt
I am getting very confused with the set up I do not know what settings to try and get the best out of blu-ray player so that the av receiver outputs the best sound as I don’t know the deference between bitstreem pcm ect. and have no idea what settings to put in the panasonic-dmr-pwt520eb

any advice would be helpfull

The best settings will be achieved by connecting the bluray player to the AV Receiver via HDMI, then running a further HDMI cable from the AV Receiver to the TV to carry the picture.

Then set the bluray player to bitstream and turn secondary audio off/bd mix options off.

You need to use HDMI to access the latest HD audio formats e.g. DTS HD Master Audio and Dolby True HD.

If you have any questions on setting up the AV Receiver, there is an owners thread here:
