how is this dvd recorder? is it one of the best
Yes, but replacement on the way ( when ? ) , DMR-HS3, 80gb instead of 40gb HD.
As far as I know replacement will also have progressive scan. (read on another thread) Although I can't see anything on Panasonics site.
I was under the impresion that it was possible to put a larger hard disk into the HS2. I've read over on the tivo and sky plus threads that this is possible but voids the warranty.
anyone tried it?
Nope been tried and tested by some DMR-HS2 owners, If you put any drives bigger then 40GB in the DMR-HS2 it will only recognize 40GB of it, Looks like the firmware controls it.
the above link indicates you can upgrade the hs2's hard drive?
HS2 will be around till next year. A more high end model with extra gigabytes of space will appear in autumn BUT there will be no progressive.
Just been reading in HCC that Toshiba are to launch a HDD DVD-ram DVD-r machine in March. The entry one will have 60gb HDD and the photo of the machine has a sticker that says progressive on. It has VBR ar well. Might be worth looking at?
